If it’s sunny, choose the spot where you’ll be facing AWAY from the sun so that the light is hitting you from behind and at an angle (to avoid having the sun in the frame which can make a photo hazy!)

Or give direction to the extra person shooting so they know where to be. If you’re using a tripod and clicker, it’s helpful to make sure your arm is behind someone else to make sure you can’t see the clicker in the photos!

Use prompts to get your family laughing so the photos feel more natural! We aimed to get some photos where everyone's looking at the camera, but even if everyone isn't, as long as you’re laughing together, the photos will be awesome! Here’s a few of our favorite prompts which work well especially if you have little kids. A) Show me your teeth! B) Pretend you just opened the best present ever! C) Squeeze your brother/sister/mom as tight as you can! D) Tickle each other!! E) Have dad toss him in the air! F) Try using bubbles! Kids love bubbles and they are pretty in photos! G) Sing a song! H) Struggling to get a smile or have a child who doesn’t like photos? Use props! Having some pretty books and a blanket can do wonders to making getting cute photos an enjoyable experience!
